Sales Representative

Our Eastern Sales Region for the Water transmission division of Northwest Pipe Company has three opportunities for Sales Representatives for our Georgia/Florida territory, Texas territory and a training opportunity for our Texas or Denver territory. These positions can be based in Texas in our Fort Worth (Saginaw) facilty.

This position involves the identification and creation of opportunities to generate sales and gross profits.

  Primary duties:          Identifies key decision makers for assigned sales territory.         Develops and maintains rapport with key contractors, consulting engineers and water agencies in assigned territory.        Creates and conducts technical sales presentations aimed at developing and expanding sales for engineered piping systems.        Provides timely and accurate market information for Project Tracking System (PTS).       Develops working knowledge of product offerings for various linings, coatings, end configurations, diameter options and associated product and material standards and specifications.       Understands competitive position vs. alternative products’ offering.        Positions NWP to achieve stated business plan objectives.      Develops sales and marketing plan for assigned sales territory.        Promote and obtain competitive specifications for the design and use of steel water pipe for water transmission systems, water/wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations and industrial applications.     Monitors plans and specifications as they are developed, promoting the competitive design and use of steel water pipe.      Participates in the bidding process on assigned projects and has responsibility to secure new orders.  Coordinates bid activities with sales administrator, estimating and engineering.  Reviews accuracy of proposals.    Provides weekly sales call schedules and call reports.         Provide management with timely and accurate market data relative to up coming bids in industry trends, etc.        Coordinates with sales management to develop a plan and strategy for each bid.       Develop a complete understanding of industry trends, helping to shape NWP’s future.

 Other duties:      Assists senior leadership with development of strategic marketing plans to expand and enhance our bottom line results.     Works with manufacturing, engineering and quality assurance staffs to develop action programs required to meet current industry standards.       Participates in industry trade and technical associations, ie: AWWA, NACE, NUCA, etc.       Coordinates sales with value-added sales manager.    Provides management team with periodic reports and information as required. 

The person(s) must have a results oriented philosphy.

 

Have  technical knowledge in Construction, Steel or piping industry

 

   Have good communication, customer service, management and interpersonal skills.     

    Have relevent and recent knowledge of business mathematics and statistical analysis. 

    Proficient computer, word processing, and spreadsheet skills.

   Willing to travel at least 60%. 

education/experience:         Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience

         Five years experience in industrial or construction products sales.
