Maintenance Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for effectively Supervising a crew of  skilled technicians for electrical and mechanical servicing and efficient maintenance of production machinery and equipment, physical plant, utilities and grounds in accordance with state and federal regulations and company policies and procedures                

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Effectively people manage a crew of up to 25 skilled technicians
  • Ensures safety of the personnel in their department and conduct regular safety meetings
  • Ensure safety as it relates to equipment maintenance, guarding, etc.
  • Complies with established best business practices for, and participate in the hiring, training, rewarding, disciplining and corrective actions of the employees in the Maintenance department
  • Ensure that equipment is maintained in a fashion that assures products can be produced to specification
  • Assist in the coordination of effort between the Maintenance department and other departments within the organization by building effective working relationships
  • Develops, schedules, and controls a preventive maintenance program to maintain production machinery and equipment in proper working condition
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in the maintenance electrical and mechanical operations
  • Inspects jobs in process and at completion to ensure that standards of workmanship and safety are maintained
  • Ensures proper maintenance of facility machinery and building
  • Maintains inventories of maintenance material, supplies, and repair parts at required levels by initiating requisitions for purchase; periodically reviews inventory for proper upkeep to plant facilities
  • Keeps JSA’S and MSDS current
  • Responsible for electrical and mechanical equipment layouts and the modification of facilities within the plant
  • Participate in problem identification and quality improvement efforts
  • Participate in special projects as needed
  • Utilizes relational database systems such as SAP and Other IT resources to accomplish responsibilitie
  • Uses effective written and verbal skills to accomplish responsibilities               

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • B.A. or B.S. or equivalent related work experience will be strongly considered.
  • Five or more years as a Maintenance Supervisor in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment
  • Expertise level with heavy industrial manufacturing process that includes welding, machinery (be specific of the machines) and related components such as PLC
  • Expertise with mobile and stationary equipment maintenance and operation
  • Be assertive with the strong ability to manage conflict yet deliver effective coaching and counseling to team
  • Possess excellent written and verbal skills
  • Ability to create a team management environment with strong problem solving and decision making skills while building strong working relationships
  • Ability to lead, delegate and influence a team and processes for delivery of services
  • Strong organizational and planning skills required. 
     

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Normal office environment
  • Regularly exposed to shop environment, dust, noise etc.
  • Regularly required to walk, bend, climb and occasionally lift objects up to 50 pounds
  • Requires hard hat, safety glasses, safety shoes and hearing protection while in the plant
  • Some travel required, both Domestic and International
