This large water infrastructure project is creating the first major reservoir built in Texas in over 30 years. The 16,640 acre lake named Bois d’Arc Lake, includes a new dam and a 90” raw water pipeline that begins in Fannin County and ends at a new water treatment plant in Leonard. The raw water pipeline is capable of moving 236 million gallons of water daily.

Hired as the Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR), Garney Construction procured the pipe to expedite construction, which allowed manufacturing to proceed while installation contractors were hired. This eliminated several months of lead-time from the construction schedule, compared to a traditional design-bid-build process. By the time installation contractors were in place, Northwest Pipe was delivering pipe to three crews at a weekly rate of 2,500 feet of pipe per crew.

To accommodate this rapid delivery schedule, our team worked multiple shifts and staged the pipe in our yard to facilitate trucking deliveries. As Bois d’Arc is new construction with extremely remote site access, we coordinated our production with the project logistics team to develop specific transportation haul routes that ensured that deliveries were in-sequence and to the correct installation crew. With our Saginaw plant in close proximity to the job site, we were able to adjust delivery schedules for inclement weather.
