About the Job
The C&L Operator is primarily responsible for prepping pipe and cement finishing of pipe in the coating and lining department. Under ongoing supervision, installs and removes rings from product, applies cement patch, loads and unloads pipe, mixes raw materials, grinds and modifies product.
Essential Functions & Major Responsibilities
Helps load, unload, and move products, materials and equipment safely and efficiently on vehicles.
- Installs and removes rings on pipe.
- Ensures rings are inspected and maintained properly.
- Prepares vehicles and equipment for loads.
- Mixes cement and prepares material for patchwork.
- Performs cement labor as needed by lead person and/or supervisor.
- Ensures ISO procedures are performed correctly.
- Follows all safety and company policies/procedures and promotes a safe culture.
- Prepares pipe for coating.
- Finish cement.
- Counts and marks all materials.
- Inspect pipe before and after pipe is coated and or lined.
- Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the lead or supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

- Must have ability to maintain crane certification
- Must be able to operate large industrial forklift, skip loader/grader equipment safely
- Ability to use hand held radios for communicating
- Reading gauges and watching guides
- Ability to read preventive maintenance forms, instruction manuals, pipe numbers, markings, tape measure, simple instructions, correspondence and memos
- Ability to calculate peak and rigging loads
Education/Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience operating large industrial equipment preferred.
- One to two years’ experience in a heavy manufacturing environment preferred.
C&L OPERATOR I – this level of Operator is responsible for loading and unloading cement and pipe products, along with being able to operate a crane. Individuals in this position operate, work with and are around large industrial equipment. Training is provided and duties are routinely carried out under close supervision; however, close supervision is not always available for routine and repetitive tasks, and these tasks can be carried on without difficulty once they are learned. As work experience is gained, employee may be assigned to more advanced tasks that include more responsibility.
