About the Job
Engineering design, analysis, and review of different product lines including oil/water separators, grease interceptors, solids separators, lift stations, acid neutralization systems, stormwater products and utilities. Tasks include model selection, design, sizing, plans review, blueprints, manufacturing process, project managing and coordination, estimating, testing and codes compliance. This position will also assist with structural/civil engineering design support for all Precast plants and personnel necessary for the promotion, sale and manufacturing of precast concrete products. This requires the ability to develop a thorough understanding of the structural design requirements of all products the company manufactures. Can also include providing technical support for concrete mix designs, rebar designs, development of new products, processes, and plant improvement projects.
Essential Functions & Major Responsibilities
- Present project-specific solutions to civil, plumbing, and mechanical engineering customers
- Provide high-quality design calculations, basic to complex illustrations, and advice to integrate ParkUSA products on site plans in order to get specified
- Provide structural designs for full range of precast products manufactured by the Precast Infrastructure plants
- Respond to civil, plumbing, and mechanical engineering clients on project-specific inquiries, design, and product structural requirements
- Establish and maintain rapport with civil, plumbing, and mechanical engineer customers
- Support field and internal team members to achieve team goals
- Assist sales team during the project bid phase by providing design review and confirming appropriate product design
- Provide project and technical support for submittals drawings, production, and product delivery
- Maintain engineering standards and procedures
- Manage product design, calculations, drawings, estimating, quotes, production, delivery, and installation of products.
- Assist Plants with Engineering design and production, and improvements to design and production processes.
- Review drawings to ensure improvement on efficiency and quality.
- Develop and provide information on Best Practices in the Engineering and Production Departments (rebar reduction, form improvements, efficiency improvements, design dimensions, structural performance, product operation and function performance, etc.).
- Provide engineering and development to new and existing products
- Provide oversight and guidance, planning, training, and mentoring to plant-level teams executing lean process improvement activities
- Drive manufacturing process change through active hands-on communication and coordination with plant-level teams
- Provide follow-up and tracking to ensure identified improvement opportunities are completed as planned
- Translate operational needs into project requirements and specifications
- Force rank improvement opportunities – develop and implement project analysis techniques and processes to select opportunities that optimize the following desired attributes: Profit impact, Time to complete, Complexity, Risk, Cost to Implement
- Provide support to production teams with any issues that may arise during the manufacturing process, making decisions of the best way to successfully finish the product.
- Regular, reliable and predictable attendance is necessary in order to perform the essential functions of this position.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to read analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Highly proficient and knowledgeable on the application of standard codes including UPC, IPC, IAPMO, ANSI, ASME, NFPA, NPCA, UL, etc
- Ability to respond to common inquires or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratio, and proportions to practical situations. Exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office, CAD applications
- Ability to read, understand, interpret and train others to project specifications
Education/Experience
- College degree in Mechanical (preferred) or Civil Engineering
- 7 – 10 years management or leadership experience in the engineering, pipe, steel, construction, or heavy highway industries.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Professional Engineer (PE) preferred
