The Logan City 10th North Corridor Improvements Project involves the widening of a roadway and the addition of a new traffic light to enhance traffic flow through a previously congested four-way stop. As part of the street widening effort, the existing stormwater infrastructure is being replaced to accommodate the increased capacity.
To support the project, Geneva Pipe and Precast manufactured and supplied a custom precast stormwater diversion structure. This structure features a 12’x12’ vault with three compartments separated by baffles, which is designed to regulate and direct stormwater flow during heavy rain and snowmelt. The structure is equipped with inlet and outlet openings to connect with existing RCP stormwater conveyance lines. The precast concrete lid includes three prefabricated manhole openings, and ladder rungs cast into the vault walls provide safe and easy access for city maintenance crews.
In addition to the diversion structure, Geneva Pipe and Precast also supplied a 7’x7’ precast junction box for the project. The use of reinforced precast concrete ensures a long-lasting, durable solution capable of withstanding heavy traffic loads on the newly widened roadway above.
All precast components were manufactured at our Salt Lake City plant, located approximately 80 miles south of Logan. The oversized load required the coordination of pilot cars to ensure its safe delivery to the project site, where crews from Rupp’s Trucking and Excavation installed the precast components using a crane.
