Great Lakes Water Authority 96-inch Water Transmission Main Relocation Project–Phase 1

Water Transmission

The Great Lakes Water Authority is constructing a new 96-inch water transmission main utilizing engineered spiralweld steel pipeline. Phases I and II of the project are manufactured by Northwest Pipe Company. The new welded steel water main will reroute a 2.3 mile stretch of pre-stressed concrete cylinder pipe (PCCP) to provide better access for future operations and maintenance of the system.

Water Transmission

The Yadkin Regional Water Supply Project in North Carolina’s Union and Stanly Counties addresses the growing demand to deliver safe, quality water to communities throughout the region. Northwest Pipe Company is providing 28 miles of 42- to 54-inch diameter engineered steel pipe for the project.

Northwest Pipe manufactured steel spiralweld C200 pipe and fittings for this water treatment plant as it updated to ozone treatment. Fabrication of a 90-degree elbow that connects to existing pipe, 60-inch steel on one end and 84-inch RCP on the other, was critical to the success of this project.

Wavetronix

Sanitary Sewer

The Wavetronix project is a private commercial development with new wastewater infrastructure connecting to the municipal sanitary sewer system. To protect the system from accelerated corrosion caused by burping from the nearby water treatment plant, Wavetronix selected Perfect Lined Manholes as junction structures between 8-inch SDR-35 sanitary sewer piping.
