The City of Santa Clara in Southwest Utah is expanding its culinary water system with the help of a pre-built Pressure-Reducing Valve (PRV) Vault manufactured by Geneva Pipe and Precast. The product consists of a 12’ x 14’ precast concrete vault with a ParkUSA PRV Assembly, which uses a 12” x 4” Singer Automatic Control Valve to provide additional pressure regulation for a new drinking water line.

Desert Hills Construction, the contractor for this project and a long-time Geneva customer, selected our pre-engineered precast system for its ease of installation and simplified project logistics. To ensure a seamless planning and production process, our team worked closely with the contractor and the City of Santa Clara to ensure that all city-required components were included, and that the final product met project specifications and municipal codes.

The PRV Vault was fabricated, assembled, and tested for quality assurance in our controlled factory environment before leaving the plant. Once onsite, the packaged vault was simply crane-lifted and dropped into place, with all internal components pre-plumbed and ready for direct connection to the existing culinary water piping.

A unique challenge of this project was the sheer size of the unit – the precast vault alone weighed nearly 60,000 pounds without the concrete lid. Plus, the width of the outer wall was 13’-4,” making it an oversize load. Despite a scheduling conflict with our fleet on the day a crane was available, Desert Hills Construction was able to transport the vault with its own truck. The jobsite provided plenty of open space for access and offloading the unit with the crane. Installation went smoothly, and the pre-built system saved the contractor time in the field, while ensuring a high-quality and reliable pressure regulation solution for the City’s expanding drinking water infrastructure.
